I wanted to share this story. A base was
located in a valley between two ridges occupied by the Viet Cong. Helicopters
evacuated the troops, but it was discovered that three soldiers were left. The
C-130 did an almost vertical dive to avoid fire. The aircraft pulled up at the
last minute, while the three jumped onboard and took off. I believe the pilot
received the Congressional Medal of Honor.
