My father grew up in France and came to the United States to study
metallurgy at MIT in the 1960s. The first time he crossed the Atlantic in July
1958, he flew from London to Montreal on a turboprop aircraft, with lots of
stops along the way! On the return trip in August 1958, he flew on a
Constellation operated by Air France. When I was growing up, we traveled a
lot, and I distinctly remember flying the Lockheed Tri-Star, the L-1011 with
TWA.
