In
1959, I went to work at the Glenn L. Martin Company in Orlando, Florida, on the
Bullpup and Pershing programs. In May 1961, I stood on a Pershing mock-up gantry
there and watched the first manned launch of the Mercury Program of Alan
Shepard that morning. Personally, the company was a big help to my becoming a
graduate engineer. Later, I retired as a vice president from Lockheed Martin.
