I served in the United States Air Force
during the Korean War as an airborne radio mechanic on B-29s. There was a
squadron of Lockheed P-38s stationed on Okinawa that flew interceptor flights
over Korea for the B-29. One of my jobs was to calibrate the antenna, which was
visible on the top of the fuselage of most World War II and Korean era
aircraft.
I have such great memories of the P-38! |
