From 1962 to 1975, I worked for Lockheed in Sunnyvale, California, in manufacturing research. I helped develop a technique for spraying liquid gold on what would be face shields for astronauts, and spraying heat-resistant materials for use on re-entry tiles for spacecraft. It was an exciting time in the new Space Age, and I was glad to a small part of it.
