I worked for 12 years with (what was then)
a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lockheed Corporation called Lockheed Air
Terminal (LAT), from 1973 to 1985. LAT was an aircraft refueling and ground handling
company catering to airlines at various airports across the country
.
I started my career as an equipment mechanic
at our operation at San Francisco International Airport and ended it as the
manager of our operation at the San Jose Airport.
I was more than satisfied with my career
with LAT and proud to be a part of the Lockheed "family." The pay and
benefits were more than fair, and I took pride in providing a quality service
to my customers.
Unfortunately, the corporation made the
decision to divest what it considered "non-core" businesses, and the
various LAT operations were sold. At that point, I decided my future was better
served elsewhere and went to work for United Airlines. I worked for them for 25
years and retired in 2010.
