A Passion for Physics

Lockheed offered an exceptional opportunity
by Jerry E.

I was able to work in the machine shop, model shop, standards lab and integration lab during the summers while going to school. After earning a doctorate in nuclear physics, I hired in 1972 to develop automatic testing systems for the S-3A avionics. I later transferred to the advanced design group where I worked on sonar detection and tracking systems. In 1974, I was able to attend my father's retirement from Lockheed after his 35 years of service. After being cleared to work in Skunks Works, I left the company in 1979 to teach physics.
