My father came to Marietta, Georgia,
in 1945 to work at Bell Aircraft. Years later, this plant would become the home
of Lockheed-Georgia Company. I was in the United States Air Force under General
Curtis LeMay from 1956 through 1960. In April 1963, I joined Lockheed and was
promoted to production assembly supervisor of the C-141 cab top. Later, I was
body mate supervisor of the C-5A. From 1969 to 1973, 81 C-5As were delivered to
Air Force bases. This was a great accomplishment by our team USA. (There’s a photo
in the 15th anniversary management club book.) Now, over 40 years later, the Galaxy
is still going strong.
